Wedding Colors

Hey My name is Rebecca and I am getting married October 14, 2012 and I need help, here is my problem - I have already picked my Wedding colors (4 of them), they are Marine (Navy Blue), Ruby (Red), Victorian Lilac, and Rose petal. My Fiancee and I are planning a Marine Corp Wedding/ or just a regular Wedding and I need to know and ask if the colors I have chosen will look okay and are not to many different colors, I want to have different lool for the Wedding, instead of the Weddings you see with evehing matching. PLEASE HELP! Shawn Neary and Rebecca Wise

Re: Wedding Colors

  • 4 may be a lot to work with and coordinate.Obviously bouquets would be easier. But favors, decor, etc. 4 may be more than you'd like to focus on. You may want to pick 2 as your primary colors and use the other two for accents. Good luck.
  • Shouldn't use last names on here dear for your safety. Bad things have happended to other brides if you give out to much information.  I agree with PP but you know what if it is what you want do it! If it makes you happy and it suites your vision go for it! But you got a while to think about it and your opinions may change over time. Since your wedding is in 2012.
  • I think 4 colors is an awful lot and could end up looking, for lack of a better word, chaotic. I'd prefer to see two colors with perhaps one minimally used accent color. I don't think you necessarily have to adjust your colors for your Marine's uniform. A military dress uniform looks spectacular with anything! Thank your FI for his service for me.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Don't worry about this 3 years before you're getting married.  Your mind will change a million and one times between now and then.   You don't need help right now.  You need to not worry about this.
  • that is a lot of colors which do not in my mind go together well. However since you are not getting married till 2012 do not worry and wait till 2011 at the earliest to pick colors all there is to do right now is save up money
  • I agree somewhat with pp. Save lots of money and know things will change a bunch from now til then. I have a lot of colors in my wedding, but my theme is autumn and i am using all the colors of fall... my BM dresses are dark brown, the guys vests are wine our flowers are orange and the centerpiece flowers as well as my bouqeut are all different colors. I am using gourds which some come in green and I am accenting with gold. Its a lot of different colors and I am not using a lot of one color. They all go together. So I think if you keep things organized you can use more than two colors.

  • The biggest piece of advice I was given from another knottie was to go to a paint store and pick out different paint cards and put them together... Do you like what you see?  Are some colors better as accents only? Keep in mind, colors and themes are two things most brides change their mind about SEVERAL times before deciding and sticking with it. I hope that helps!  Good luck with your planning!
  • I'd pick maybe one or two main colors and use other colors just to accent them. I was going to do a bunch of bright colors at first but I decided to go with blue and yellows and use pinks and oranges here and there. You do have a pretty long time and your tastes may change... sometimes the venue can have some input in your color choice. Don't get too ahead though, with todays economy if you book things too early you could end up being out a lot of money due to bankruptcy.
