feeling kinda left out...

It struck me as kinda funny how one of the main topics on the front page today is about wedding discrimination, and while I love the knot, as a pregnant bride I feel kinda left out when I want to look up tips to look beautiful on my wedding day and there really are none. There are tips on interfaith marriages, gay marriages, every denomination under the sun and tips for how to make just about any day special, but nothing for the expectant bride. I would expect more coverage from a website that partners with thebump.com.

Re: feeling kinda left out...

  • Good call on them partnering with the bumb. You would think they would have something hun. How is your planing comeing along. I have seen some posts about pregnant BM and dress issues ... but no brides. So how awesome of you to pave the way.

  • I'm sorry, Allie!I have a friend who just had her wedding celebration (she got married JOP in January) and she's 5 months pregnant.  She was stunning.   Surely there are some more bump-brides on these boards.
  • Wow your right that is kinda weird they have everything else under the sun. You should run that by Knot Annie and I am sure they can get something together in helping you brides. So I am curious whens the wedding and when will you be expecting how exciting 2 things in the next year.
  • I have helped 2 friends plan weddings while they were pregnant.  I'm not an expert, but feel free to page me on this board or email me anna.oskar @ yahoo if you need anything, want to talk or just need someone to bounce ideas off of.
  • I sent an email to KA asking her to please investigate the possibility of forming an Expectant Brides board.
  • Would it help if more of us sent Knot Annie a request for an expectant bride's board?  If so, I'll send one.
  • Thanks so much for your support guys...it means a lot! :) Actually my planning is going well, so well in fact that it's almost over..only 18 days until out November 7th wedding! I am ecstatic to say the least and am right around 16 weeks pregnant and just starting to really show. By the time of the wedding I will be 18+ weeks and my bump just keeps on growing ( as does the rest of me, I feel!) It has been kind of a bummer for me at times to go through all of this planning while pregnant though. My fiance proposed to me the day before I went to the doctor to investigate a suspiciously persistant stomach bug that I couldn't shake and the rest is history. We both wanted a fall wedding and decided that a wedding before all of the baby madness was doable if we put our noses to the grindstone and got busy. 3.5 months later we're getting ready to say I do. I've had to forgo the typical bachelorette party and all of the working out I"m supposed to be doing in prep. of my big walk has been overshadowed by nausea, exhaustion and wedding planning. It really would be nice to have some other women to talk to ( as well as some expert advice) about making our day special regardless of how we're feeling in our changing bodies and with our emotions at 11 all the time. I appreciate the feedback and feel free to chat me up anytime.
  • I really wish you much happiness.  Babies are wonderful, although draining, and it's so much fun to watch them grow and form their own little personalities.  As the mother of two boys, I will offer some advice which I think is important because you won't have much "alone" time before your child arrives.  Please set aside time for you and your husband to spend some time alone.  That is my only regret in raising my children.  I'm sure you will be a beautiful bride.  Just follow you instincts and heart.
  • on the home page they should have a suggestion link for topics or maybe even ask for our opinions. I agree they should have topics for every kind of bride imaginable.  Double Congratulations Allie. Good luck with your big day and your pregnancy.
  • Good luck and have fun on your wedding day! It's the weekend before mine :-P fall weddings are fun!
