Dessert opinions

So it's looking like, in addition to our heavy apps, we're going to have a pretty decent dessert spread.  I've been experimenting a bit, so we'll have the wedding "cake," gourmet popcorn, truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, and little tiered mini cheesecakes.  It's going to be pretty awesome.  I've been thinking about maybe having one of these options as a favor instead of being on the dessert bar.So, as a guest, which would you prefer: getting an edible favor in addition to the dessert spread, or just getting a container in which to box up any goodies you want to take home?If you'd prefer the to-go container, what sort would work best?  I'm thinking that some people may also want to take some of the non-dessert food home, so I was thinking something with compartments?  But it would also have to be cheap...Man, now I'm hungry.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Re: Dessert opinions

  • I'm no help, it would depend on my mood that day. But honestly, if given either option, I wouldn't think twice about it.

  • I would do an edible  favour separately.  We had a candy buffet and when we gave guests free reign to load up a small bag, people took 3 or 4 bags. So in my experience people ate their fill and then took some for others at home.  It might cost you more in the end to let them take what they want.
  • I am no help. I have a sweet tooth and honestly, either of those choices would be fine. The only wedding I've ever been to where there were edible favors, the favors were jalepeno oil and caramel sauce. I still have yet to use either.

  • I like the idea of being able to choose, so I'll vote for the to-go container.  If you think people would want to take the savoury food home too, would it be cheaper to get more ordinary to-go containers rather than ones with compartments?
