I've decided to do a foot washing ceremony at my wedding.  Where can I find tips on how to do this well?  Can you suggest any blog posts or websites to give me ideas?  Thank you!

i went to a wedding that this was done at, it was BEAUTIFUL. the bride and groom left the front alter ( i dont remeber if they left the room or went to the side of the room) wrapped a white blanket or towel around their waists, then the bride sat in a chair up front and the groom knelt and washed her feet, they switched places, and then the bridal party lined up and the bride and groom washed each of their bridal parts feet as well as their Pastor and his Wifes feet. it was absoloutly beautiful

sorry i didnt explain the towel thing very well, when they got up to the alter again, they untied the towel knelt on it and used the other one to dry the feet. but you could always have individual towels up in front somewhere under the chairs perhaps

We're doing a footwashing at our ceremony on Saturday too!

Supplies: Basin with pitcher, two small towels, chair

Prior to us going through the footwashing, our officiant is explaining what it is and linking it to the passages in the Bible that it relates to, talking about how we are doing this as a representation of our commitment to serve each other in marriage. We will have a silence during the actual washing so our family and friends can focus on our actions and reflect on what it really means.

As the male (spiritual leader), FI will wash my feet (really just pour water over one foot and then dry off with towel), and I, as the responder will then wash his feet (same thing: water over one foot, dry off).

I've seen it done at one other wedding before - we're actually borrowing their pitcher and basin:P
