Earthquake!!

Did anyone else feel it? I'm in southwest Ontario and my building was evacuated and I was sent home.

It wasn't that big of a deal, but what killed me was the entire office felt a jarring shake that lasted 20 seconds - yet no one thought enough to leave. It wasn't after I said to people that it could have been an explosion 10 floors below that people decided we should evacuate.

I'm happy to report that so far there has been no reported injuries or damages. :)

  • All my friends in Buffalo/Upstate NY posted on FB about it.  I'm so mad I missed it!  Nothing exciting ever happens in Buffalo and the one time it does, I'm not there.

There's a group on Facebook that's something like "'There was an earthquake in California.' 'How do you know?' 'Check Facebook.'"  For some reason I've only been in one earthquake that I actually felt (I'm usually somewhere that I can't feel it or asleep or something), but my news feed always EXPLODES whenever one happens.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I'm in NW Ohio and a couple people around here claimed to have felt it....  I sure didn't though.

  • I'm also in southwest Ontario.. First one I've ever been through! It was super mild though - I only noticed because my chair felt wierd and the water on my desk started sloshing... I thought the construction site next door hit something with a bulldozer..

  • We have family in Erie, PA who felt it. There was a 5.7 magnitude quake on the Ontario/ Quebec border that sent tremors through OH, PA, NY, VT, and parts of Canada. Check www.earthquakes.usgs.gov for more specifics.
  • I didn't feel it, but I heard (through facebook) that people in CT did.

  • I'm in northern Indiana and a whole bunch of people were talking about feeling it.  The hospital down my street had people evacuate.  I somehow missed it though. :(

  • also in sw ontario can and we felt it. We thought it was construction.
  • I definitely felt it - the epicenter is only about 60km (35 mi) from where I live/work.  I was at work on a conference call and when it was happening and I finally figured out what it was I thought our building was going to collapse.  I've never experienced an earthquake before so in retrospect that may have been a bit of a dramatic reaction, but damn did it freak me out.  No damage at my house, as far as I can see.  There is damage to roads and buildings close to the epicenter.

  • I also live in Southern Ontario and felt it too. I was sitting in front of my computer and thought i was getting dizzy, but then i realized that i could hear my house shaking. It shook so bad the pictures on the walls were moved. It freaked me out, i have never experienced an earthquake before.
