So, I just saw the movie "Timer" in which it's a pretty standard procedure that when you enter 9th grade you can get a timer chip implanted into your wrist that would display a countdown until you met your soulmate, then at midnight the day you met him would zero out and then when you first make eye contact with him or her your timer would play a chime and you would know for CERTAIN that this person was your soulmate.
The movie's main character was a woman nearing 30 who had a blank timer because her one true soulmate chose to not get a timer. She is constantly stressed about meeting her one, and was curious if she ever would. Her sister's timer was set to go off in 5000+ days (15 years I calculated) so she chose the path of just having fun in her life until she met her soulmate by having one night stands with men with timers as well. So the main character, Ulna, decides to engage in a night stand with a guy who had hit on her who was set to zero out in 4 months. But they end up falling for each other... I shall not give away the ending, go see the movie!
My question to you ladies today is if offered today, would you go get the timer with your fiance? Please explain why you would or would not.
Pros:Should s/he not be the one you wouldn't have to waste time continuing to plan and finance a wedding that was inclined to fail. Your future children with your soulmate wouldn't need to deal with divorced parents, which would mean great things for our nation (or world) as a whole. Your wedding day would be more special but it's gurenteed it would only happen once, to your soulmate. Many worries about your future would melt away because it's almost like a promise that everything will be worked out. You'd never be left for a younger woman/man.Infidelity would be a thing of that past, as there IS no BETTER.
Cons:- It may not be your current fiance, so you'd need to choose to ignore it or pursue it.
- It may be blank forever, if your soulmate chooses not to get a timer as well.
- It may be set off decades into the future, which may skip your fertility window should you want any kids.
- Your soulmate could die (after you meet them), and there is not a second. It's one shot.
- It could be someone you know already, and it may not be convinent to be their soulmate (i.e- your sister's boyfriend or something like that)
These are just the ones I could think of, and there are TONS more. Remember, if you did choose to get the timer you don't HAVE to obey it. You would still have free will.
