Amusement Park E-Pics? (a little long)

I just posted something similar on my local board, but it's not very active so I figured I'd give it a shot here as well and change it so it's not all localized.

I was speaking with my photographer recently about our e-shoot which we'd like to do this summer.  I love all of the carnival inspired shoots with the carousels.  I think they are absolutely beautiful.  FI and I are also roller coaster nuts so my photographer suggested going to an amusement park for our e-shoot.
My question is, has anyone done a photo shoot at an amusement park and are there restrictions from the park for doing something like this?  I know cameras are allowed in parks and this isn't something we would be profiting on - strictly just our e-pics will be taken.

I just tried calling the specific park that my photographer mentioned and the person I need to speak with wasn't in.  I'll try back later, but I'd like to know if anyone else has done something similar to this and how it turned out.

I'm also thinking that if we go later in the evening, it's cheaper to enter the park after a certain time, but it's not too late that we won't have daylight.  I was also wondering, if you have done this, do you think the photographer would be able to get on-ride action shots or would he be more off to the side and trying to just get shots of FI and myself on the ride with him off of it?  I suppose this is something I should really be asking my photographer though.

Thank you Smile

  • That's a great session!  I'll have to show it to my photographer for ideas Smile
  • Not an amusement park, but we looked into doing our e-pics in the aquarium here.  We would have had to pay full admission for all 3 of us, plus an extra fee, and then there were all these restrictions about to make sure we didn't interfere with other people.  For us, it just wasn't worth it.

If this park is more willing to work with you, check into doing a later admission.  Sunset lighting is best for photos anway, so your photographer will probably want to do it then.

I actually found a park that has no admission.  It's one of the only "old fashioned" amusement parks in the country that you pay per ride now.  I also spoke with the marketing person there and they gave us the OK.  We just have to stop in their office the day we are there to let them know so that the security people know why we are there.  So it's all good to go on the amusement parks side, I'm just waiting to hear back from our photographer Smile
