I am so upset

I have been carefully saving for this wedding.  When I got to work this morning there was a note in my box that the rate of pay was being changed, and the note was dated a month ago.  So all of my hard work in March will be paid at a lesser rate than was a agreed on.  This is a difference of about $1000.  I was supposed to get this check tomorrow.  I could get a new job, but nursing jobs take about 3 weeks to get, and then we don't get paid for another 3 weeks.  Now what?  Do I cancel the caterer?

I work in healthcare too. There is no way they can cut your pay and not tell you about it in advance. I bet you money they will play the "we sent it to you and you just didn't notice it" game though. I don't know what kind of ceremony/reception you are having but cutting drinks change to cash bar? might be an idea. Or maybe less flowers? I doubt there is time to do anything major like have it in a nice backyard or something so you don't have to pay site fees. There is also the option of selling off some items after the ceremony to recoup costs. Selling dresses is one way to get a nice chunk of change back. Or maybe ask your family if they can help you out?
