Ring pillow

My grandma passed away a few years ago and my aunts followed her wishes and turned her wedding dress into small lap pillows for all the girls in the family, and I want to incorporate it in the wedding as the ring bearer pillow, but the thing is I really want to actually put the rings on the pillow when he walks, keep in mind he's only 5 1/2 granted he's pretty smart for a 5 year old but you never know. My MOH thinks its a dumb idea cause the rings could fall off and all that, but it's really important to me, I feel if I put the fake rings on there would be no point of using the pillow.
What should I do?

Re: Ring pillow

  • Add a small ribbon and tie the rings on.
  • We planned on tying a ribbon through the loop that's on the pillow, I mean if you tie it hard enough I'm sure it won't fall off, and I figured wait until the first set of BP walks the MOH and the Best Man can tie it real quick and then he fallows them. And once he gets to the front he just stands there

  • This a really great way to incorporate the pillow made of your grandmother's dress.

Funny story though...my nephew was a ring-bearer in a family wedding a few years ago, and he was about the same age (5 1/2) at the time.  The real rings were tied to the pillow.  He was SO CUTE walking down the aisle -- by the look on his face, you would have thought he was carrying crown jewels, he was being so careful to make sure he did everything right.   Then, when the best man went to untie the rings from the pillow, I guess he pulled too hard, and the rings went flying across the church, and clanged around on the ground before ending up about four pews back.   My nephew was absolutely MORTIFIED and thought he did something wrong.  He felt horrible for the rest of the day.

So if you do this, make sure the BEST MAN practices his part too, so if it gets screwed up the pook kid doesn't feel bad about himself.

  • Why don't you put the pillows in a boxlike the white wedding boxes or have one made so the pillow fits perfectly then tie the rings to ribbon. They will be safely inside the box even if he dropped it
  • Most ring bearers don't ACTUALLY carry the ring. The best man.MOH usually hold them. It's just a symbolic thing to have a ring bearer
