Chit Chat

Sad last few weeks....

So I just feel like lately there has been a lot going on and I feel so horrible.

Our church has been going through some issues with trying to find a new pastor since our old one was plagiarizing his sermons for the last 2 years.

We found out my aunt has breast cancer

Then yesterday I was talking to a friend from high school on fb and she was telling me how her cousins from a different state were going to be staying with her family for a little while because their father was found dead in his house.

And today one of my really close friends was telling me that their dog might have to be put to sleep because he keeps peeing in her parents house. This isnt her choice at all and she is upset that her parents are saying it. They just re-did their house and the dog is having a hard time adjusting to it, so he keeps peeing everywhere.

I dont get how apparently giving the dog to the humane society isnt an option.

Ugh, just a lot of sad things going on with friends and family lately and it is hard.

I fail to understand how people get pets and then b/c for whatever reason the pet becomes inconvenient for them, they give them to shelters or put them to sleep.  It will never cease to amaze me.
I hope they find an alternative for that poor dog, like a loving home to someone with a bit more patience, willing to stick it out while he goes through his adjustment period, which is totally normal for a dog.
People like that make me sick.

Also, sorry to hear about your aunt.  I was a bit focused on my rage about the dog just then, sorry about that.

Its okay, it upsets my and my friend as well. If she had it her way she would take the dog, but dorms wont allow animals. I wouldnt mind another dog either, but we already have 2. I hope that the meds the vet puts the dog on helps him so he doesnt have to go.
  • I'm sorry about your church and your family too. I think why I feel more fired up about the dog is that there's nothing you can do about the church or the death of a family member. But putting a dog to sleep because it has accidents? I think there are so many other alternatives. I'm glad to hear they are trying medication and hope it works. That worked for one of the dogs I dogsit. He used to pee just if you pat him on the head and it turned out it was a medical condition.

When it rains it pours, right? Hope things start going better soon.

This bothers me too. My friends got rid of their daughter's cat a few months ago (after the cat had gotten out for a few days and the little girl was devastated) because she was peeing on the new baby's stuff a lot and instead of working with her, they just got rid of her. It pissed me off. If we could have taken in another cat, I would have. Oh, and this cat wasn't spayed, which may have helped with a lot of their problems.

I admit there are times I get so frustrated with one of my cats that I consider momentarily to give him away, but that's not fair to him. I just need to find better ways to deal with the annoying things he does. I wish other people had the same commitment to their animals!

Also, sorry for everything going on OP.. hope things start to look up soon!

  • My sister works at a vet, and a lady brought in a perfectly healthy dog to be put to sleep because she "couldn't take care of him anymore."  WTF?

My sister made a few calls and found a really reputable rescue organization that would take him.  I don't get why the lady couldn't have tried that...

Sorry, OP.  I know it feels like everything bad happens at once.  I hope you have some people in your life to help you through it.

  • I'm sorry to hear about everything.  Like someone else said - when it rains, it pours.  It is always that way for me.  I don't just get bad luck, I get oodles of bad luck.

I also agree with everyone about the dog.  We've had behavioral issues with our cat since a surgery a few months ago, and I've been reading books and trying clicker training and we went to the vet, who declared it wasn't anything medical.  I'm really sad to hear that, so hopefully it works out.
  • Sorry to hear about everything. I know what you are going through with my aunt. My mom currently has breast cancer. Stay strong and just be there for her.  Things are going to get worse before they get better.
