Teeth whitening?

Does anyone know at what point I should start a teeth whitening routine? We wedding is in October and a friend said I should start now bc it takes awhile. I've never done it before. And recommendations for products?

Thanks.

If you do the Crest Whitestrips (which is what I highly recommend), it's a 6 week treatment. You could do it now and see how you like it, and then do it again 6 weeks before your wedding to upkeep. You can also decide now if you like the way the strips work.

I've been using Crest Whitestrips for over 10 years, and maybe once a year I will do the full 6 week treatment, and I sparingly use another 6 week treatment throughout the year, one at a time as upkeep.

My dentist said he stopped doing professional whitening because his patients could get just as good results from White Strips at a fraction of the cost. I get compliments on mine all the time.

Another vote for crest whitestripes.  I personally like to whiten my teeth every six months after I see the dentist for my cleaning (that way they're already clean and free of plaque).  I don't think you should do them more than every 6 months, so try them now & then do them again in about 6 months before the wedding.  My FI found that his teeth are too sensitive for them and he couldn't handle the strips.

When you do them - DO NOT drink coffee, soda, tea, red wine.  My dentist yelled at me because I was drinking the above while whitening.  What he basically said was that the whitening strips help to open the pores of your teeth.  Then I'm filling them with black stuff (from the dark beverages).  This is actually doing much more damage because it becomes beyond a surface stain.

Thanks ladies! I will try the crest white strips!! And actually I don't drink coffee or tea and I only drink white wine. The soda may be tough bc I love diet coke but I'll try really hard!

I also like the crest white strips. My dentist recommended using sensidine toothpaste starting about two weeks prior to the whitening so that my teeth wouldnt be sentive. Just a tip!

OP, this is kind of gross, but my friend in dentist school told me that when I whiten my teeth (I was having really pain in my teeth to not brush my teeth at night and to do the stips in the morning. It's gross, but really helped me with the sensitivity.

Honestly, I have a hard time with the white strips because I will do them for two or three days and forget about it. I usually use a Rembrant two hour whitening kit about once a month (or sometimes every other month) and I use Crest Vivid White toothpaste in between. People always compliment me on how white my teeth are. And I also drink coffee, soda and red wine on a daily basis without a straw.

ETA: The 2 hour white kit got me about 2 shades whiter on my first time, and maybe one on my second. Now I just do it for maintenance or anytime I think I notice my teeth start to yellow. My teeth weren't very yellow to start with though, now they are just obviously bleached super white. Which is the look I like.

My dentist bleached my teeth one week before my wedding. My teeth were two shades whiter and my insurance covered it. I don't drink soda but I do drink coffee, I just rinse my mouth and brush my teeth twice at work to avoid staining.

I did have sensitivity for about two weeks but stopped with Sensodyne.

Yea - it's tough!  I actually do go cold turkey 2 times a year and figured it's probably good for my body to not have the caffine in my system for a period of time.  Can't hurt (and since I plan on doing this right before the wedding, it's probably a good idea to stay away from that stuff during that time too).

Whiten your teeth as close as possible to the actual date of. Crest white strips make your teeth very white quickly, but they also make them a lot more prone to staining. Thus they make you dependent on the product. And in my case, the second time around, I had terrible zingers (sensitivity)

There are lots of great pins on pintrest about baking soda/peroxide toothpaste mixes that you can do gradually that won't cause the zingers associated with white strips and like products. I have a couple of friends that have tried them with great results. Nothing to lose!
