Marriage License

Do any of you lovely ladies know where exactly FI and I go to get our marriage license? Also, do you know what I will need as far as id? FI and I have about 5 weeks to get married. I know in Texas you have to wait until you have at least 30 days, but I have no idea what all I need and where I go to get it. :) If you know please help me out.

Re: Marriage License

  • I believe you need your ID and Social Security card and the fees for the license.  I think usually the county's clerk's office usually deals with the marriage license. Or at least that's how it is in Chicago.  It can't be that different in Texas.
  • I got mine 2 weeks ago. i believe it is different in each state (i.e Rhode Island a license is good for 90 days, is Ct it is only good for 3 weeks) You go to the town hall where the bride lives. You need cash or check, mine was only 24, but again it is different in every state. A valid ID or passport and birth certificates. I was told if you were born in the town, they have your birth certificate on file. id call your town hall and see what time they close, and what time you would need to be in there by.

  • Your best bet would be to google - or call - the county where you are getting married and find out their requirements. They are different from state to state.

Your license needs to be from where you are getting married, not from where you live or from where the bride lives, unless that is also where you are getting married.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • The rules are different from state to state.  Call the county clerk where you live or are getting married and ask the rules.  Also, they are usually online.  Try googling Texas Marriage License.
