Work Vent

I work with a childish, bratty, two-faced, selfish, tantrum-throwing, ultimatum-giving, immature woman. I hesitate to say woman, but in years that is what she is. I'm in school, and the past few weeks the schedule was fine, I worked as much as I could and offered to pick up days in other departments so that my coworkers wouldn't be as affected by my schedule. She threw hissy fit after hissy fit until my boss gave in and gave her the schedule she wanted which has me working twelve days in a row. And after those 12 days, I'll still only have worked 70 hours. I got this new schedule earlier this week, and promptly e-mailed my boss to say that I wasn't okay with that, can we compromise something and I have yet to hear back. I don't feel as if I'm asking too much, this is my second year in school while I work here, and the last three semesters I took all online classes and worked with whatever schedule changes my coworker wanted to be helpful to her, and now she's doing the exact opposite to me and demanding the exact schedule she wants, or else. I feel as if my manager is just letting her have her way so she shuts up, but it is literally screwing over the rest of us in the department for her to have her way.

I want to scream.

Also, can someone educate me on what all the acronyms mean? I'm SO confused reading through some posts lol

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Work Vent : My thought is, at least from when I had crazy work schedules while in school is that you'd rather condense the days you work but bump up the hours. So I read the OP as saying that she'd like more hours, but not stretched so thin over so many days. Example : Instead of working 6 hours a day for 12 days, maybe work 8 hours a day for 9 days or something? At least that's how I see it. OP, what exactly do you do if you don't mind me asking?

I work in registration at a hospital - so I'm that person that gets all your information, insurance, payments, and consent before I send you on your merry way to get your diagnostic testing done - welcome! (I'm also part secretary, office maintenance, receptionist and other similar tasks, but that's just a bonus )

Thanks ladies for being so helpful :)

The problem isn't the amount of hours, it's the fact that they're SO many days in a row and I'm not even getting my full 80 hours. I can work 12 hour days a few days a week, but those are the only days my coworker wants to work 12 hour days and she got what she wanted. I guess the most frustrating part is that I'm more than willing to compromise or work in different departments so I don't have to work 12 days straight, but they're both just brushing it off as nothing.

I've spoken with my coworker, politely about what may be going on that she can't work those other days, if she was willing to tell me, and it was simply a matter of wanting to be working when her husband was so that they could see each other and their kids more. I get that, really I do, but we only work every other weekend and we also only work 35 hours (ish) a week so it's not like there's absolutely no time off for her.

I'm not sure who suggested it, but I didbring in my exact schedule and show them my days so they could shift things around, it was to no avail.

I also feel as if I should add that it is part of my employers mission statement to help employees further/continue education. They have a bunch of resources in place to do so, and that's why my manager works with our school schedules (there's another girl in my office currently in school as well).
