Losing hope for a DJ...

First DJ asked to bring his own alcohol, right after I said it was a dry wedding, and now he wont stop texting me asking "when are you going to send the deposit check?" I called him once saying we appreciate his time, but wont be needing his services. Now he's just getting annoying...

Second DJ seemed great, even offered to call me if someone else was interested in our date, but never called. I had to call to figure out that he already booked the day... Thanks for nothing.

Third DJ I set up an appointment with, and he never called me back... I called numerous times and he just wont reply... On to the next I guess?

So now I found another DJ, he seems very understanding, and we should be meeting in a week! Wish me luck on this one, I am seriously losing hope on find a trustworthy DJ.

  • It definitely sucks. Good luck this time!
  • Does your venue have any recommendations for DJs they have worked with?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Ask for recommendations from friends and stuff.  I actually posted on facebook for a dj and was recommended when I love them.  Very organized and responsive. And price was more than reasonable

  • For some reason I think the most frustrating vendor to book is the DJ. It certainly was for us, and a woman I ride the bus with every day just booked one a few weeks ago for her wedding at the end of the month. She had some DJ horror stories.

  • Sorry this has been such a pain in your a$$! I second (or third) the recommendation for asking your venue for ideas. Or, if there is a bar you frequent that has a DJ you like could you try asking one of them? Or maybe I just spend too much time in bars..
  • what part of Nor Cal are you in? We found a great DJ at a Sacramento bridal faire. I'll PM you his name if you would like to look into it.

  • Have you tried getting recommendations from your local board? That's how I found my DJ and he was great.

  • I think the DJ can be the hardest vendor because anyone with a laptop and iTunes account can start a business. I recommend asking the local board or even going to your favorite bar or the venue. All venues I've looked at has had a list of previous vendors. Good luck!

  • The DJ was definitely the hardest vendor we've booked so far.  We leaned pretty heavily on our DOC for recommendations.

    Time to book a band.

Lots of my friends had similar issues with DJ's.
