The restaurant FI worked for just closed after 14 years (FI worked there for almost 10). He hasn't found a new job yet, although he picked up some hours doing a job he hates in a friend's cafe. He's only working part time and making less than half of what he made before.
I believe he will find something soon, but I'm freaking out because if he doesn't, we're living on a pharmacy technician's salary. I have money set aside to pay November's rent, but that doesn't give me a lot of leeway on the electric bill and food. Right now, there is no room for savings for the wedding, but that's the last thing to worry about at the moment.
To add further crap, neither of us has insurance and FI needs $2500 worth of dental work. We're also concerned that he might have to drop out of culinary school because his ex-boss was paying for it, but now he's only paid through the end of this semester.
To make a long post short, we're looking for some creative ideas to cut our costs and live on the cheap. What's your favorite idea for living on a budget?
ETA: Grammar policed myself.
