PPD for Obama

Yes, even the pres. He is being sworn in "privately" on the Constitution-mandated January 20 at noon. Then on January 21, the fake swearing in will occur as "...a time...to come together...and celebrate..."

Sounds familiar.

Re: PPD for Obama

  • This happens on every inauguration. They do this incase the words get messed up or can't be heard.

  • No. The celebration is pushed back a day from the official swearing in as that is a Sunday.
  • Funny you posted this.  I was thinking the other day I thought the inauguration was on the 20th and we getting confused on why it was on Monday the 21st.  but I didn't have a computer to google and forgot about it.  I think it's silly to push the pomp and circumstance to Monday.  Sunday is a perfectly fine day to be inaugurated.

I guess MLK holiday is better PR.

I just read that it would never take place on a Sunday.  I guess they are always held privated on the 20th and then publicly on Monday.  I'm sure that stems from everyone going to church on Sundays.

  • I know the who thing got pushed back because it's a Sunday. But I swear I heard somewhere that they take the oath privately before the public one (JIC), it's just always been on the same day up until now.  Or it could just be all the cold meds I'm on making my brain fuzzy.

  • The constitution says the oath has to be taken at noon on the 20th of January.   By law the outgoing president is president until that time.  So there is no legal way they could do one privately before.

Because of the Constitution, they are doing it privately on the 20th and publicly on the 21st.

<div>Hoboken thought they always did a private one.  My point was on years it's not on a Sunday they can't have a private oath ceremony prior to noon on the 20th.  </div>

  • I love your dog! How much does it weigh? What kind is it? My H looked over my shoulder and saw the other pic, the face one, and just went crazy. Now he wants one.
  • he is 14.5 months old and weighs about 62lbs.

He is an English Bulldog.    Although he doesn't have the fat lazy gene.  He takes 2+ miles walks almost daily and a few more shorter ones also.  Then he plays tug-of-war and fetch all day long.
