Music help please!!

Well my wedding is right around the corner! I met with our DJ-band yesterday and have no clue what to do yet. I really like the piano version of Amazed by lonestar for walking down the aisle. No into any of the bridal marches. But i need to choose our first dance song, and our wedding intro song. We were going to do Brad Pailey's (Then) but so many people are using it now. Same with the new Black eyed peas song. Any ideas ladies ? Is anyone doing somthing really diffrent or unique? Please share!

  • well, i see that you are into country music...so i guess i would probably do either whatever it is by zac brown band....just loko online or go to walmart and look through the cd's...just dont't do a depressing song....in other words remember when by alan jackson is OUT of the question....good luck!!!

  • Are you getting married at a church or other venue? If it's in any kind of church, be sure check with your priest or minister to make sure there are no restrictions on what can or cannot be played.

  • I don't really get why everybody's uses "Then" anyway, to me it seems way more appropriate for an anniversary than the actual wedding, so I wouldn't feel too bad about scrapping it.

I love country music, but I like the older stuff, so I don't really think I can help you if you want something current.

I still love Rascal Flatt's "Broken Road", and we considered that for a while for our own first dance. And the popularity on that one has died down a bit, so you won't have to worry about "everyone" using it.

Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Grow Old Along With Me", always a classic, imo.

Billy Dean's "I Will Be There"

Oh ... I can't think of the band's name, but the song is called "I'll Still Be Loving You" (It's like Blackhawk or Alabama or some group like that), but the chorus is "I'll be yours until the sun doesn't shine, 'til time stands still, until the winds don't blow. When today is just a memory to me, my love, I'll still be loving you".

Definitely by Blackhawk: "Love Like This"

Another one, can't think of the artist, but the song is called "If I Had Only One Friend Left (I'd Want It To Be You)".

  • As far as the reception entrance goes, just pick a fun song that you guys love. As long as it's upbeat, you're good. If you're really lost, just try Google-ing "Fun Reception Entrance Songs", and you'll get a whole list of them. You'll probably wind up even getting some ideas for the regular playlist while you're at it.

FWIW, My mom was pushing the Black Eyed Peas song for the entrance ... and then for the BP dance (Which, we did not actually do one of these, and I beg you to not do one either), and I was very "No, I want to actually dance to that if it gets played ... and everybody else is using it" (My younger sister and I have a stupid little dance we do to it, lol), so that one just was on the regular play list.

  • Thanks for some ideas, i will get busy looking up some of the many you have all listed. I am open to anything, does not have to be country. We are very open minded. Thanks again ladies(:
  • IMO, if you like a song use it. Who cares if everyone uses that song. If it means something to you, use it.

For the record, I did not use any of your songs.

  • if your into country! I love the song "When you say nothing at all" by Allison Krauss That would be a great first dance song! I would have dont that song but It was planned with my previous relationship with my sons dad. So Im going with Maxwell Fortunate. =)

  • I think im walking down the aisle to "god bless the broken road" !  For the recessional walk we are thinking about whatever it is by zac brown band that is our song, or better life-keith urban.  like a pp said keep it postive.  Oh and by the way i listened to the new black eyes peas song with my mom and some people could get the wrong idea from the song.
