recommend your BB cream

Hi, ladies! So I bought a dark spot lightening cream and after reading the label, it's got some scary not FDA approved stuff in it. I'm looking for something to help brighten my skin post pimple, I get little pink spots. FMIL says a BB cream is the way to go. Sephora has so many! Anything you love? Thanks!

Re: recommend your BB cream

  • For drugstore brands, I've tried Garnier and Maybelline. I hated the Garnier (sooo oily and they didn't have many colors) and I love the Maybelline. When this tube runs out I think I'm going to try the Bobby Brown because I've heard it's amazing.

  • My skin is really sensitive and I break out easily, so I'm thinking something from Sephora, so I'll look into the Bobby Brown. I love Urban Decay and they also have a new one that came out recently.

You may want to try Maybelline's new illuminating primer if you need some brightening.

As for BB creams.  Check out this- it's pretty darn accurate.  http://www.allure.com/beauty-products/skin/2012/bb-cream#slide=3

The article is missing a few-Lancome has a nice one now, as does L'Oreal.  L'Oreal is close to the MNY one (shocking, I know) but the Garnier one is really for oiley skin.  Given the similarity in chemicals between them, you do not need to be paying through the roof for one of these.

Also, don't be fooled, there is legit no such thing as CC cream-so don't think you're missing out on anything with that.

Well, technically, BB creams started out as colorless.  Just like a moisturizer.  That's why some companies call the tinted ones CC creams.  But now BB cream is pretty much interchangeable between tinted and colorless.

Not disagreeing, I just really hate the marketing ploy of an AA+BB=CC garbage.  Did you know their CC cream is exactly the same sku as their BB cream?  They didn't change a darn thing but the packaging and name.

  • I personally love Garnier, but I have dry skin naturally, so it moisturizes great for me, and the result is a natural, dewy glow.
    Praying for a miracle!
  • I've heard that Stila makes a good one, but I haven't used it myself.  I plan to try it at some point.

  • I've tried a fewI really like Smashbox's BB creamthe right amount of moisture without making my face look makeupy Didn't like the Garnier one, like Other posters noted, its kind of oily. Not good for my combo skin and DC humidity!
  • I've used the L'Oreal one, and it hasn't irritated my sometimes finicky skin. It's the only one I've tried so I can't say how it holds up to non drugstore brands however.

  • Thanks, ladies! I'm going to stop by Sephora tonight to look.
  • I use the blue tube Dr Jart, but I got a sample of the Stila one and LOVED it. That was just the normal one, so I'm very curious about the "luminizing" one.

  • I LOVE the Dr. Jart BB cream in the black tube.  It's very, very soothing and is amazing on my skin.  I generally just use the BB cream on the weekends and for work I add a touch of mineral foundation on top.

I have that lucky kind of combination skin that is simultaneously dry and oily in different spots and prone to break-outs, so this stuff is my GOD-SENT.  I just ordered a tube online because they didn't have it in store and I love it that much!!  I've found when I use it, I break out much less and my skin looks better without makeup.  It's really made a difference on some of my lingering acne scarring.

Only down-side is that the color of this BB cream is pretty fair (not an issue for me, it works well with my skin) and I think if I had darker skin it might not blend.

  • Last July, I had a gift card to Sephora and wound up using it to try out the one that Too Faced puts out (It's the 6th one mentioned in the link PP posted). I really like it, it evens out my skin tone, brightens things up, and really does give me a bit of a "glow." It's also improved the overall quality of my skin when I'm not wearing make-up.

I use it every day instead of moisturizer and foundation (Just a little bit gets the job done), and I'm still on the first tube that I bought-so you do get your money's worth.
