Not a big deal?

I recently ordered 200 matchbooks for our wedding reception. When I recieved them, the names were not printed the way I had ordered them. My mom said that she thought the brides name was supposed to come before the groom, so that's what I put on the order form. When I got them, they flip flopped the names so his name is before mine. I'm not really that worried about it...it's not like they spelled our names wrong or anything. Does it really matter whose name is first?

  • I don't think it matters, but if it wasn't what you paid for, then return them and get them done right. You've got plenty of time, and it makes me wonder why you ordered them already...

  • From what I understand (and I could be wrong) the bride's name comes before the groom's name on any pre-wedding things (the invites, etc) but after you are married, it could go either way.

Nobody will notice and it doesn't really matter, though.

Nah, if you're not worried about it, then it's no big deal. People aren't going to notice, and if it doesn't bother you, then there's nothing wrong with it. I had napkins printed for our reception and I had FI's name before mine. I wasn't even aware that there was etiquette for the order of the names, but I rather like his name before mine... like PP said, "they're just matchbooks. It's not like their the programs or the invites."

  • Meh.  I don't think it matters.  After all the planning, it sounds silly to say his name first to me.  But to others, it would be completely natural - so you might be feeling a bit of this too.
  • I agree with Sarah.  You paid for it, you should get it the way you ordered it, regardless of if anyone will notice or not.  Good luck!
  • Thanks ladies! I did try to call and have them changed, and the company said that I couldn't exchange them because they were personalized.  Like I said, it's not like they spelled our names wrong or anything, so I'm not worried about it. I just wasn't sure if the names HAD to be in a certain order.

    Thanks again!
