5 bridal showers?

So I was searching on this photographers Facebook page and came across this girls profile, her wedding had a ton of cute inspiration ideas so I was looking through, and found that she had an album with photos from her FIVE bridal showers. She had a Christmas themed shower, a kitchen shower, a regular bridal shower, a mother daughter bridal shower, and a gift card shower. She posted a picture of the invitations from every shower and it was listed as hosted by the same people. Is this common practice in the south? It seems like overkill to have the same group of people at five different showers designated to various types of gifts. I don't really care that she did Im just wondering if there's regions where its common to divide the gifts and have several different showers because I've never heard of this.

Re: 5 bridal showers?

  • A kitchen shower? Is this the 50s? A gift card shower? That's horrendous.

  • That is ridiculous.  If I was invited to all, I wouldn't attend any.
  • Holy heck.  No.  Just NO.   Two is okay, MAYBE three if they are all hosted by different people and have different attendees.  But FIVE is just ridiculous.

  • Eww. That's absurd.
  • Is it possible the girl is trying to launch some sort of wedding related business? Invitations or design or wedding planning? Or that one of her friends is? That's the only way I could justify it - maybe it was more of a setup for something like that?

  • We had 3, I guess 4 if you include my lingerie shower/bachelorette party combo evening.
    -Work shower
-Shower thrown by my aunts here in Texas, ended up being mostly my family.
-Shower thrown in H's home state of Arkansas hosted by his dad's neighbor, attended by mostly his side of the family/ friends in AR.

Besides our parents, almost no one attended more than 1 shower for us, and that was the way we wanted it.
My sister (co-MOH) felt bad about not throwing me a shower because she felt she needed to, but with my aunts hosting one, I told her there just wasn't a need for all that extra work. And it was true.
    5 is WAAAAAAY too many.
  • I had a friend who had 4, but they were all different groups of people who were invited: friends, church, work, and family.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Wow! Okay, I'm going to let go of all self conscious feelings I may have over just having ONE shower that everyone on my wedding guest list is invited to.

  • Ok glad I'm not the only found who found that a little strange. It was like, her and the same group of people over and over in various locations and different clothes. I was thinking, wow, don't these people feel a little redundant? They REALLY took her wedding seriously I guess.

  • I agree with Snippet. Had it been different groups, it would be fine to me. But to have the same people host all 5 and if the same people were attending all of them, that's just preposterous to me. I don't even think that there's a need for a "Gift Card Shower".

    Om my... that is excessive.

My MOH gave me the date of my shower on the weekend and she said "Try no to book up too many weekends, incase family or someone else wants to throw you a shower or whatever". I was like Umm... I dont want 2 showers.

    I couldnt imagine 5 showers.
