Hi, this is Ann Marie with Austin Lashes. Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are the latest and hottest beauty trend that has made its way from Hollywood to Austin. I’ve had mine of for a year & love the constant attention and compliments. I am often asked the questions below so I thought I would make a FAQ & start a lash forum for other questions.
What are eyelash extensions?
They are synthetic eyelashes made to replicate the natural eyelash. They come in all lengths and thicknesses. You can create a look ranging from natural to diva – it’s all about your preference.
Who applies them?
They should only be applied by a licensed cosmetologist/facialist/esthetician who is also a certified eyelash stylist.
How much do they cost? Ah, the most often asked question. Depending on where you live, the initial application can cost anywhere from $250-$500. How are they applied?
They are applied lash by lash, glued to the actual lash itself. They are not applied to the skin or eyelid like strip lashes are. It really is an art and should only be done by a highly trained and qualified certified lash stylist.
How long do they last?
They adhere as long as the natural lash is on your eye. Eyelashes grow in cycles & typically fall off every 4-8 weeks depending on how rough you are on them. However, your ‘look’ can last indefinitely with refills every 2-4 weeks.
Why must I get re-fills?
As your natural lashes fall out, new ones grow in. This is the natural order of things (just like the hair on your head). Refills maintain the full look and replace the ones that have fallen out.
How do I maintain them?
Your stylist will give you a guide, but it’s actually pretty easy. Brush them in the morning & at night. Avoid using oils (oils break up the adhesive causing your extensions to fall out earlier), avoid playing or excessively touching them due to the oils in your fingers. Your stylist will go over this in depth.
How much does it cost to maintain?
