Birth Control

Has anyone tried Mirena??

Or do you have suggestions for other BC?

Re: Birth Control

  • I bet your doctor will have some great recommendations!

  • Why would you talk to a bunch of internet strangers about this rather than your own doctor?
  • If doctors don't know jack, why should she trust you, LingerLonger1 MD?

    Abstinence.  100% effective.

Or the Pull and Pray method which comes highly recommended by 4 out of 5 uneducated teenagers.
  • Call your doctor.  Seriously.  Asking for a home remedy for headaches/colds etc online is one thing, but there is a reason that birth control requires a prescription and an annual exam.

<div>When I was in HS, a freshman boy and senior girl decided that pull and pray was a fabulous idea.  She got pregnant.  His family sued for statutory rape because she was 18 and he was 14.  And they won.  Moral of the story: don't be an idiot. </div>

  • Seeing as I have no idea what your medical history is like, or what your personal tolerance is for popping a daily pill, chaning a patch, etc, I suggest you make an appointment to chat with your doctor about your reproductive health needs.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Way to be vague. I'm assuming you mean 'Depo', which has the reputation to making ladies absolutely BSC, but you simply said 'The shot'. . what shot? The hippopotamus shot? The bird flu shot? . . .

OP, go to your doctor. EVERY BC effects people different. What works for me may or may not work for you. Internet strangers are NOT a good place to ask about medical related issues or suggestions.

  • I will agree with PP about talking to a doctor about their recommendations for you specifically. I have tried Depo "the shot," and it worked fine for me, but there are potentially serious side effects. I most recently was on NuvaRing also, and I liked it a lot. All meds have side effects to consider, and I wouldn't recommend starting anything based on what you hear online.
