New Hampshire

quintessential NH favors?

My fiance is Portsmouth, NH, born-and-bred. We're getting married in NYC, where I'm from, but most of his family will be coming in from the New England area.
I'd love to incorporate something that's totally New England (New Hampshire if possible!) into the wedding. I'm thinking favors would be the best place to do that.

Our wedding is in August, near the water in downtown Manhattan, overlooking the Statue of Liberty. Indoors. About 125 people. We're a pretty low-key fun couple, this isn't a black-tie stuffy affair by any means. So I'm cool doing something fun or quirky. For example, if he had been from Vermont and we were getting married in the winter, I'd arrange for Vermont Maple Syrup. But alas, that wouldn't quite work in August.

Any thoughts??
Thanks,
~Melissa

you could still do NH Maple Syrup, I'd love that as a favor, especially sense it's meaningful

What about Salt Water Taffy? Or Lobster Lollipops. If he is from Portsmouth he will appreciate the red lollipops. They are all over the place! :)

    Moose poop chocolates?

Hahaha, I'm just kidding. I think salt water taffy is good as your FI is from the Seacoast, and I love the maple syrup idea!

I agree with the lobster pops! The taffy is a great idea too.  There is also the maple candy shaped as maple leaves that you can find at a lot of local sugar houses.

Lots of great ideas on here! Just wanted to say that the maple sugar candy comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes depending where you get it. So you could do a maple candy lobster if you didn't want to do the regular leaf shape. :-)

Just wanted to let you ladies know that my fiance is totally sold on maple candy. I showed him all these recs and now he wants to do whoopie pies, too! (He spent a lot of time in Maine). So excited to test these out -- you know, just to make sure they're good enough for the guests.  =)
