First official wedding nightmare!

What a doozy!

I was crying through the whole thing because nothing that I have planned was happening... Our families didn't show up, I forgot to book the officiate so there wasn't anyone to marry us, the band took more breaks then play, there was a weird hair and makeup team -that I didn't even hire that showed up and insisted they were going to do my hair, and the makeup artist was complaining about everything to me and ended up yelling at me (really random).

Plus I don't remember seeing my flowers... There was no one familiar around, except FI, and he was completely stumped as to where his parents were the whole time. And the strangers that were there as 'guests' started a fight over who got the last piece of chocolate cake.

Anyone else have crazy dreams like this?

  • I don't usually remember my dreams, but I remember one that I had shortly before the wedding. I don't recall the fine details, just that nothing was ready, no one in the wedding party was dressed right, etc. Yours sounds pretty vivid!

  • Yeah, I tend to remember dreams that are particularly disturbing only because I wake up upset.

I've been doing a lot of planning lately so my mind is always racing with different thoughts. I know there's nothing to be really worried about, it's must a bit of anxiety over getting everything settled.

I feel better already... woke up to a text from my loving FI, who is working today. And then my florist arrived to deliver the sample centerpiece. It's absolutely gorgeous!!!

  • i dreamt that I slept through my wedding planning and I woke up in the middle of my rehersall, which was a full dress rehersal. I was livid that my FI saw me in my dress. My mother then told me that my sister planned my wedding, she did a aweful job at planning everything. Im glad it was only a dream.

  • I had another one two nights ago... walked down the aisle with no shoes, FI was late, I was trying to make the guest favours the day of the wedding!

I'm definitely a laid back bride, but the dreams/nightmares are getting to me!

  • I had a dream shortly after getting engaged that my fiance treid to sneak away  during the rehearsal dinner to smoke pot with his friends (he doesn't smoke pot in real life!).  I was livid, screaming at him 'My grandmother is here... YOUR grandmother is here!'  He was all 'I just need time to chill out with my friends.  I'm glad he's nowhere near that kind of guy!

I think the "no shoes" must have a deeper meaning. I too had a dream the other night about my wedding. The venue was my aunt's house and I had my dress but no shoes and I asked my FI to bring them but he forgot them... I will need to research this!

  • Oh my gosh, yes! I dreamed that one of my bridesmaids refused to wear her dress and came out in a hot pink one instead, and then the ceremony got so messed up that as soon as we were pronounced man and wife I told the officiant to stop and for everyone to leave and come back because we had to do it over. I was never so happy to wake up! Glad to hear I'm not the only one freaking out. I guess this is what we get for overthinking wedding details before bedtime! :)
  • Oh yeah, my wedding nightmares started shortly after we got engaged (October 2011), and I'll have one every once in a while. The first one involved not having a venue, flowers, or anything, and then having to get married and do the whole thing at some dingy hall. Once the hall was booked, I started having nightmares about not having any other vendors. Now that all of those people are booked, and it's basically down to all my DIY stuff (which includes ALL of my flowers), I'm having nightmares about those every few weeks. It is draining. Also, a kick in the butt to get working. But mainly draining.
