Unity candle/sand

I'm going to be using unity sand instead of a candle because my venue does not allow candles due to fire regulations.

Just curious if you are using a candle or sand, are you (did you if you're already married) have anything engraved or transfered onto the piece as you keep it forever after your wedding?  If so, what did it say (just basic guidelines).

Thank you!

I've been to a few wedding's where they did a sand ceremony. One was just blank no engraving/etching. It was a really pretty vase if I remember correctly though. The other one had their names and wedding date on it and it was a simple vase. Now they use it as a centerpiece on their mantle and put a candle on top. (the sand doesn't go all the way to the top)

    Hope this helps!
