Birthday gift

So this is completely un wedding related, but anyways, my daughter Lila is turning 5 in a few days and I need an idea of a very special gift to get her as a surprise. I really want it to be something that will last a long time.  I was thinking maybe a locket of some sort thats enscribed.  Any ideas?

What about a charm bracelet?  You could add to it as often as you like....whether once a year at birthdays, or as often as her life dictates....school events, extracurricular activities, holidays, religious events......

Mom got me a ring with my birthstone in it when I was about that age. It now fits my pinky.  It still has a very special place in my jewelry box.  I'm sure it wasn't that expensive, but it was my first "real" jewelry, so I will always treasure it.

For my first communion when I was seven my parents got me a pair of small diamond studs.  I still have them today.  I don't wear them anymore but I still have them in the original box they came in.  Maybe one day I'll give them to my daughter for her first communion or give them to her after she gets her ears pierced as a baby.  The diamonds are small so it doesn't have to be at all flashy and she can wear them on special occasions if you are afraid she might lose them.
