I spoke with Expose the Moment Photography. The owner was extremely nice and willing to work with us, I talked on the phone with him for about 45 minutes. We ended up going with A Photographic Memory cuz we really wanted a photobooth and Expose the Moment didn't really have one. Good luck!

We are using Peter Ingersoll from Windswept Acres Photography.  He is very resonable and great to work with.  And would be in the same price range that you mentioned.  He is located on the NH/southern Maine Border.  Definatley worth checking out.  The website is www.windsweptacres.com.

My advice is to rethink 11 hours of coverage...  that's a looooooong time to have someone following you around taking pictures.  I've never even heard of any options beyond 8 hours.
We had 2 photographers for 6 hours.  I faked my "getting ready" photos, as it was easier to be dressed and ready to go when they got there - and no strangers saw me in my skivvies. 
As you said, you won't want TONS of pics of you dancing - which is true for most of the reception, beyond the big moments: arrival/introductions, first dance, toasts, cake cutting, parent dances.  After that, you can rely on guests to capture the fun.

We are going with Jay Reiter. He is in NH and we got him for $1900. He will meet the girls at the place where we are getting our hair and makeup done. He will be taking pictures for the rest of the night. He has no set hours for his contract. He does an engagement shoot and gives you 3- 8x10 photos from this. He takes a ton of pictures at the wedding. You also get the rights to the pictures and you get a DVD of 200-300 high resolution pictures, but aren't toned. He also does photo books for an additional cost.
He definitely LOVES what he does and will not screw you. He is a great person.

I agree with Chayer. We are having an afternoon wedding with an evening reception. Our photographers will arrive around 12:30 for "getting ready" photos (great idea, Chayer!), and we have them for 8 hours. That puts their departure at 8:30, which is pretty much when the dancing will be underway. I would rather have 90% of my pro pics be of the ceremony, formals, and staged parts of the reception and 10% be dancing. Actually, make that 95/5

I used Studio One (studioonenh.com) out of Manchester. We were thrilled with John. We were originally going to stage the getting ready part like Chayer mentioned, but we ended up paying for the 2nd photographer who showed up only an hour before for "getting ready" shots. We had John for 8 hours though, which really was the perfect amount of time. His wife, the 2nd photographer, we had for 4 hours, which meant she did getting ready shots, headed to the church early to get piictures of people arriving, then left the ceremony early to get detail shots of the reception and of the cocktail hour. In that way it was very beneficial, but not 100% necessary. Just another thing to think about, I guess. There are a lot of great photographers out there!

I have also worked with Kevin Jacobus and A Photographic Memory for Trash the Dress pictures and would recommend them as well.

We used Joel Plante of What The Frame Can See Photography for our engagement pictures and we absolutely loved them. We would have used him for our wedding but our wedding was in NC. His prices are definitely affordable.

make sure you read the contract on the photo booth and make sure they have enough ink. they are good photographers but just make sure you read the contract about how long you have the booth for.  i was under the impression that we had it thru dinner and it was only for 2 hours which goes by very fast. if you want your picture done in it i suggest you do it after you say your vows so it doesnt get closed up on you like it did us..

Sounds to me like your photographer does not want to committ to this deal.  He's probably stalling, hoping that something more lucrative will come along.  It's the same with other wedding vendors, when the deal isn't so good, they're not too eager to sign the paper.

Try http://www.jpbrandanophoto.com. Its a husband and wife team and they shoot the whole day from start to finish. Their pricing starts at $1000 for CD of pics.

Like Gary.. I wasn't quite searching to sell, but I hate to hear of brides and grooms having to  deal with this type of situation.

If someone is interested in keeping you as a client, then they should follow through with the contracts within a reasonable time frame.

Most of our weddings are 7-8 hours of coverage as well. Pre ceremony, ceremony, formals, candids. Eight hours should be more than adequate I would think.

If you haven't ended up booking suggested vendors as of yet, I would be happy to speak with you as well.
