NWR: Does anybody have a flagpole?

FI wants a flagpole for our house, and I'm clueless. I know he wants it to be 25 feet and aluminum. We don't get a lot of wind compared to most of the country. I've seen some online that come in sections. They're a lot cheaper, but are they nice? Do they hold up? Solid poles are really expensive due to shipping, and I haven't found any locally. Help?

  • Why not just get a bracket for your house? That's what we have and it works just fine.

  • We live on acreage, so FI wanted to display the flag up by the highway nowhere near our house or anyone else's. Our area has an association, but it only has rules for minimum home size and road maintenance.
  • Are you going to take it up and down every day?  Do you have a way to light if, it not?  And a weatherproof flag?

  • We were planning on lighting the flag. The flags are designed to be weatherresistant, but we'd probably lower them in inclement weather.

We have a solid one that came with the house. My husband thinks it is fabulous. It totally is not my thing, but he takes great interest in it and he enjoys taking care of it.
  • Why don't you just make one?  There are lots of instructions on the internet, and it would probably be much cheaper than ordering a solid one on the internet.
