Dad and Dog..

My dad has a dog-a very Hyper dog, she jumps up on people, high shrill bark, unctrolled, but still friendly. He brings this dog EVERYWHERE! He brought it and had her running around at my grandmas funeral. She almost fell in on top of my grandmas casket. He has broght her into my Martial Arts studio. I want to know if I should just write on his invataion No Dogs, or if i should sit him down and ask him not to bring the dog. My reception will be at a barn..I just dont want his dog running around bothering all my guests, and jumping on me with her muddy paws.

You really can't write No Dogs on the invitation, as much as you want to. Just tell him you don't want him to bring the dog. Any chance you can blame the venue for a no dog policy?
  • Don't forget your guests might be allergic to dogs. Tell you dad that he cannot bring the dog in person, not via an invitation.
  • Talk to your dad in person about this. Explain he has to leave the dog at home. I am crazy about my dog, but I understand there are places animals are just not meant to be, like weddings and funerals! Remind him also, that guests may have allergies and that the dog may get sick/hurt from being around so many people who can feed him things he shouldn't have or get underfoot and stepped on, etc. I'd be polite but firm, especially if he tries to talk you into it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Dad and Dog.. : Right. Something about food and health code violations mayhaps? Though this is going to be hard with a barn. What if there are areas the place is really not comfortable having a dog about? If it gets trampled by a horse or eats a poisonous plant or gets stuck or runs away I doubt they would want to be liable for that. Also, your grandma's funeral? No, no way, you're joking right?

Completely serious-he brought the dog out and thought she would cheer everyone up. My dad and I are just starting to get along again after my parents divorce I just dont want to ruin our realtionship that we worked so hard to fix over a dog.
