theme?

My wedding is in June and haven't really pin pointed a "theme" and 90% of my planning is done...but I met with my day of corrdinator on Saturday and she asked me what my theme was.. I was speechless and embarassed. Is it weird not to have a "theme"?

Re: theme?

  • My theme was 'Im getting married'.
You don't have to have a 'theme' and I find it silly that planners push so much for it.
Just go with your colors and I'm sure things will mesh wonderfully together! :)

  • Not everyone has a theme.  The 'theme' is a wedding.

Have you seen the 'Stuff Brides Say' youtube video?  There's a portion with the 'bride' talking about the theme - "I'm thinking urban vintage with a romantic twist.... Classic traditional with a non-traditional vibe..." etc.  If you have 90% of your planning done, you've likely already pineed down most of the decor, and that's all you need to worry about now.  No one is going to say your marriage is invalid because you don't have a few catchprases to describe your wedding.

  • Themes are overrated IMO. Subtle themes are fine (like a beach "theme" with beachy colors, maybe some sand and shells for the centerpieces but not all out crazy beach stuff everywhere). I think the best thing is to tie things together with colors or a general feel, like formal, casual, etc.

  • Colors can be a theme.... right?
I mean, this isn't Sophomore Semi-Formal... I don't need a Mardi Gras or Casino Night situation.
  • I don't have a theme besides "us." I think a vision of what you want your wedding to be is a much more appropriate and telling answer to have.

  • We aren't having a theme.  Don't be embarassed by it.
