You mentioned in the confessions post that your sister dropped her birth middle name and took her maiden name as her middle...  did she do this recently?  Did she have to do anything special to make this happen, or just the routine name change stuff - SS office, DMV, etc.I'm hearing very different things on how to make this happen - including the possibility of having to go to Probate court to change the name.  I've heard it should be as simple as changing it with SS from many people, but they didn't do it recently, and I'm afraid things may have changed.

She has to do it through the probate court, and I believe that's how you change any part of your name. I can double check today at work - I work in a law office and should know these things...But regardless, here is the link to the NH Probate Court page. It has links for the applications and some general information. If nothing else, you can always just call the court and find out.
