Gifts for Readers?

So I read in a few posts back that its customary to give gifts to readers at the ceremony. Did anyone else do this? What did you get them? I'm having my brothers read at the ceremony and I didn't get them gifts yet b/c I didn't know it was customary.

We gave our readers a nice bottle of wine and a thank you card.

I gave my reader a nice bottle of crabtree and evelyn lotion, a nice card, and a necklace.

My step brother and younger cousin were our readers. I asked them not even a week before the wedding and didn't get them gifts. I'm a slacker. They didn't care or seem to know the difference. LoL.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't do gifts for our readers either.  I probably should have but I opted for a nice thank you card instead.... like Ninny I dont think they were offended or rather I didnt get that impression.  I don't think it's common knowledge that you give readers gifts, I think it's a regional thing and something that being on the knot makes you think has to happen.  orrrrrr I could be wrong and really rude to them who knows! With that said, maybe get them a gift card or a video game (boys are hard to buy for.. are they old enough to drink beer? beer themed gifts are easier for boys)
