I live in Brooklyn and on the SS website, it states that if you lost or are changing your name on a ssn card, that you HAVE to visit the Brooklyn office, that you can't mail in the application like other places. I checked the hours of operation, and with my work schedule, it's impossible for me to get there on time! Is it possible to have my new spouse do it for me? On the application there's a line that states "Filing on behalf: Guardian, parent, other" Would he count as other? I'm just so confused and angry that I can't mail anything, and I don't want to leave work early, seeing I've been doing that due to certain weddings. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!
