I Need Advice!!!

I am the MOH in my friends wedding that was originally scheduled for August 28th in our home town in lexington, Ky. Just yesterday she called me and said we decided to get married on July 17th in Gatlinburg, TN. I have not gotten my dress or my shoes yet, because I thought I had plenty of time. So its too late to get a dress b.c. it will not have time to come in. So now I have to buy the dress off of one of the bridesmaids who cannot make it now because of the fact that she changed the date. I wasnt planning on buying the dress at the store, I was going to use my credit card. Its all very CHAOTIC and Im not quite sure how to react to it. Thankfully I have already planned a bridal shower, but how in the world do I throw together a bachelorette party in this short of notice. Im going crazy! Need some advice and help!

Don't feel pressured to have a b-party. They aren't necessary at all, and you aren't a bad MOH for not giving her one, especially if you already planned a shower AND she moved the wedding up a whole month. Just get the dress however you can and be there for your friend. No extra parties required.

See if you can get a different dress from ebay, the wedding classifieds board or off the rack in the same color or one of her other wedding colors.  The MOH dress is often different anyway.  If you would have been able to get the dress in 2 months, you should still be able to get it though.  A lot of BM dresses take 3-4 months to come in.

Pre-wedding parties are not obligatory.  You can skip it if you'd like, or have a night out at the bar that doesn't require much planning.

Also, a bach party doesn't have to be anything fancy.  It can consist of you and a few of the bride's best friends going to dinner and a bar.  It doesn't have to require much planning if you don't want it to.

Bachelorette Party does not need a month to plan!!!  just go out on the town!  or hell have a slumber party and just have games and drinks and you're good!

How long does it take to make reservations at a restaurant?  Because that can be a lovely b-party.  You're making this harder than it needs to be, unless you're worrying over a date.

Check with the bride.  Find out a date she's available.  Plan the party.  Those who can make it will.  Those who can't, won't. 

Dinner and drinks;  OR a slumber party;  OR a movie night of drinks and watching chick flicks;  OR going bowling;  OR....well you get the idea.  Doesn't have to be big, splashy, or expensive to be a b-party.

Don't see a big issue.  Dinner reservations, or pick a great bar to all go to, or a salon and get your nails done..you don't need to rent a limo and hire a grammy award winning singer! Chill out and think simple.

OR don't have one, not necessary and i'm sure she wouldn't be upset due to the date change.

Thanks...we were originally going to get a vip at a bar which we had to reserve so far ahead of time and rent a limo and stuff, so that is why I was panicking about the bachelorette party, I had just already had everything already planned. Now I have to cancel all the reservations and come up with something else quick and easy.
She changed her date because a family member offered to pay for it if she did it in Gatlinburg, I dont blame her I guess.

Yeah, that's her loss for changing the date on you last minute like this.


 It's so weird that a family member would offer to pay for it if she changed the location and date so late in the game like this... I don't know if that answers my question or gives me a whole slew of new ones...

Have a Shower/Bachelorette party.  I've gone to plenty of them and they always end up working out great since more people attend.  You only have to organize for 1 night instead of 2 (so less food and drinks) and people only have to give up one weekend instead of two (perfect for out of towners!)

So do the shower thing early, then the older guests leave you can have some dirty games and then go out on the town.  Take taxis instead of limos and don't get VIP... it will be a blast any way you do it!

So we have decided to do a combined bachelorette/bachelor party..thats what the bride wants..we are renting two vans, girls in one guys in the other, but we will go out to dinner and then just bar hop all together, not a typical bachelorette party, but as long as the bride is happy, right?
