My fiance and I just realized that we have been going through a rut. He says our relationship has become routine. Its horrible. Last night we were actually talking about if we should go through with our wedding. We both want to, its just that we have to get back to the most joyful happy time of our lives. We're 26 now and have been together for about 9 of the last 12 years. It seems like a while but we were kids in high school and broke up throughout college. I'm wondering if I made a mistake hounding him to move in and get engaged. He says it was going to happen anyway just maybe a couple of months later.
We're both really worried that we've fallen into some sort of routine loving one another and that some of the reasons we love each other arn't there anymore. We've lived together for a year and a half now. So nothing is going to change when we do get married in October.
I know that we can get back to where we need to be if we stop eating dinner in front of the tv and actually have meaningful conversation during dinner like we used to. Also if we have sex more often. Since my fiance is totally obsessed with tv and we havn't been talking that much I've been resentful with sex. Its so terrible that this has become our lives.
We both still love one another. Its really tough to think about not getting married. This all happened yesterday after we had a serious heart to heart pouring out our souls about why we both are unhappy. We actually considered not going through with our wedding if our relationship stays a routine.
I took my ring off and told him I want him to put it back on my finger when he is as happy as he should be to marry me. (he's not so happy about that, and thinks i should still wear it. I feel like the meaning itsn't there right now if we're thinking this deep about our future)
Also just so you know, hes miserable at work now, trying to find a new job that isn't going to well.
Has this happened to anyone before? Our engagement should be the happiest time of our lives, somehow we've lost something along the way.
