stupid question

Hi LadiesMostly a lurker on here these days but we were finalizing our guest list today and a question was posed to me and I didn't know how to answer it! We are feeding 3 vendors at the wedding... its a plated meal .... guests get two entree options... how do you find out what the vendors want to eat?.... do you send them an invitation?.... do you call them and ask?.... do you just pick for them? hahaI feel like I should know the answer to this but maybe my brain is fried from recounting the guest list 96 million times  to make sure we had enough address labels hahaTIA

We also had a plated dinner. For our DJ, he got an invite, mainly because if he wasn't our DJ he would've been invited anyway. For the photographers, when we had our final meeting with them I asked what they wanted. Our meeting with them was before our meeting with the reception site.

My venue assigned the cheaper meal option to the vendors, but since I was ended up being very close with all of mine, I asked them each what they would like since my guests had a choice and asked the venue to comply.

I just emailed them and asked them.  They all seemed surprised that I asked which I thought was weird but ya, that worked or you could ask them at your final meetings?

My venue charged us a "vendor" meal price (30% less than the other meals).  I think the vendors just choose from whatever was left over and got no soup.  Ask your venue before you ask your vendors.

I didn't get to choose what the vendors got to eat. I just had to tell my reception venue how vendor meals I needed and that was that. I would check with the reception venue first and find out if your vendors even have a choice, since these are usually at a lower price than the guests' meals.

My Opinion: Send all three "copies" of your invite. 1.) That way you don't waste invites, which can be expensive, 2.) You can write on it and ask which choice they'd like and ask them to reply via email because they may be busy with other weddings 3.) You should ask - because they may not want to sit down and eat (too busy), may be on a restricted diet, may have plans for later or have alergy issues and 4.) if the vendor has a copy of your invitation, they can't mess up your start time / location, etc. Always a good idea to give out copies of the invite to each vendor. Also, if they have a copy of your invitation and need to get in touch with you at the last minute, they'll have both the grooms and brides parents information to refer to.
