Poll: reception games?

I also posted on the boston board, I like to double dip! I hope noone minds.Id like your input as im trying to decide on what games Id like my dj to do (if any). I have only been to one wedding where the guests got involved in games. So I dont know much abt whats typically done. My questions are: 1)Are you playing any games during the reception?2)What are your 3 favorite games (or 3 favorite ways to get the guests involved)? If possible give a brief description3)What is 1 game that you Do Not want done during your reception?

I am personally not a fan of reception games.  Our DJ had this "balloon pass" to give away center pieces that our guests seemed to enjoy.I went to a wedding with musical chairs - that was horrible.I just read about DJs bringing big screens and wii games for guests to bowl against one another - that could be fun.Ask your DJ what works best - they are usually good at reading the audience and plugging in games.

I am not a fan of reception games either. We did not have any and we did not need to give our centerpieces away so no games were "required". Ways ti get the guests involved? GOOD dance music. That's all you need.Anything having to do with guests giving the bride and groom $ is tacky.

1> We have horseshoes and some card and board games we're planning on having available, but we're not having a very dancing wedding.  The dance floor is there and there's music for the people who want to dance, but we're not doing any of the traditional dances and most of our friends aren't into dancing.  At least not other than belly or timewarp.2> I've only been to like 3 weddings, and 2 didn't have any games, 1 did this hot potato like thing to give away the centerpieces.3>  The above mentioned hot potato.

I'd personally pass on the reception games.  I think there's plenty to do with good music and family and friends.

PP reminded me.  We DID have trivial pursuit cards in little baskets on the tables - because DH and I love it when restaurants have this.  But we provided no instruction or requirement to use. Also the back of our program had a crossword puzzle about us.These were kinda 'games' for those who didn't dance or wanted an ice breaker with the rest of the table. But neither stopped the regular course of the wedding.

I've never heard of having games at the reception...I guess you have to know your crowd though. I think you can't go wrong with great food, drinks and music.

I guess i'm the total oppsite. We had games to get the ppl moving. They loved it. We had a game for everyone who clinked the glassses to sing a love song, we had musical chairs which my grandmother pushed my cousin off to win. We had them dance off for the center pieces.

We ended up having games. It wasn't really planned but it definitely got people moving and everyone really loved them. We also had a packed dance floor all night. Our DJ did some games to replace the glass clinking after a little while. He had a bag of numbers and each number went to something on his list. We have some hilarious pictures from this (my brother and cousin cheerleading to 'Micky' and my other cousin had to play a guitar solo, etc). We also did a game along with the centerpiece giveaways. It was a sort of musical chairs bit. Even DH's mother LOVED it.I think this definitely helped our guests loosen up and they all loved it. I guess it depends on the crowd and the feel of how you want your reception to go. We wanted a party and that's what we had.
