Groom Guide?

My fiance has requested one of those "Groom" books (e.g "The Everything Groom Survival Book") because as he says, he has no idea about these "things."  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Groom Guide?

  • I have no recs and I only have one thought abut books like these.....waste of money. How about looking on here and finding a groom checklist? The checklist has certain items that are specifically for grooms. Sorry I can't be more helpful towards a book.

  • Thats okay, I should have clarified - I too think these books are rather silly, and was shocked when my fiance suggested it.  I think it was a half-joking request, but I know he wants some clarification about this stuff (yesterday he asked me what the rehearsal dinner was).  I thought it would be a funny but useful gift (if I can find a cheap one -  didn't mean to imply that I was willing to shell out lots of $ for it) especially because I know my fiance wants to be as involved in the planning process as possible.  I think he would much rather read a book than go on a wedding website to find out info.  But stina would you mind pointing me in the direction of one of those cheklists with grooms info on it?  Thanks!

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Good post!  I think a lot of grooms really do want to help but just don't know what to do.  I checked out that plunge.com website and it looks good.  Good luck ladies!

  • I just read through this post, and went to look at theplunge out of curiousity--it's funny how different men's opinions could be than women's. I do think my FI will love this website, though. :-)

  • I also read that Wedding Planning for Dummies book.  Another book I really enjoyed that I guess would be helpful to the groom, too, was Bridal Bargains.  It will help him understand the costs as well as the planning that goes into a wedding.
