parent gifts

hi all,

anyone have any good ideas for gifts to our parents??  we don't even know where to start....how do you thank someone who gives you a beautiful wedding?

Re: parent gifts

  • you thank them in any way you can really lol. just give them something they would like and you can afford. a nice dinner, a weekend at a b&b, spa days, whatever it is that they are into. shop like it's their birthday or xmas in terms of things to get them, and just splurge a little.
  • im thinking of getting my parents and PsIL nice framed pics of us with them.
and make a big deal of thanking them at the RD.
i like the b&b idea, especially if theyve been involved in all the prewedding work.

  • We got them all albums.

At the RD we got them small gifts as a pre thank you. Mom and FFIL got photos in frames. FMIL got a necklace picked out by DH. My dad got cufflinks with the apple logo on them. Everything at the RD cost less than 30 bucks.

  • Think of something personal to them, something you know they would love, rather than some traditional weding gift.

For example, my mom loves homemade gifts and she also loves those colored rocks you find in huge bins at craft stores. So, I got a couple jars and filled them with the stones, then painted the wedding date and my and FI's names on them.

I think personalized gifts are more meaningful, and if your parents have really done a lot for your wedding, then they deserve one.
  • I saw a travel bar set that I know my Dad would use, but when I was talking to him on MSN video call and told him I thought I found something I wanted to get him as a gift (I didn't tell him what it was), he said the best wedding present I was giving him was the man sitting behind me; refering to my fiancé who was sitting behind me at his computer.

That's the type of guy my Dad is.

I still want to get him the travel bar set though Tongue out
