Re: programs?!?!

  • We originally planned to not do them. When we added in a local tradition we decided it was necessary so that guests would be clued in (we had a DW). Honestly, I'm glad we did. They were so easy to make and we printed them at a Kinko's the day before the wedding. It's up to you though, they're not a must have.
  • We are doing them and doubling them as fans, since we are getting married outdoors.
  • i want to do them so that anyone that isn't catholic can follow along in our ceremony.  it is also the place we will be putting a written thank you to our families and bridal party. i also like the idea that our bridal party will be "introduced" to anyone that may not know who they are in the program.

  • We're most likely skipping them.  My experience at other weddings is that 98% of the guests leave the programs on their seats at the ceremony.  It seems like a tremendous waste of paper, unless you have specific information you need to convey (like in Edie's case, where half the guests were unfamiliar with the religious traditions being followed).

  • We are not doing them.  Our ceremony is only lasting about 20 minutes with no special readings or traditions that our guests are unfamiliar with so I just can't justify spending the money to make them.  I totally agree with the poster that mentioned that most guests end up leaving them on the seats (or floor) after the ceremony anyways.

I could see doing them if you were having a Catholic ceremony and wanted guests to follow along if they're not Catholic ( or Jewish, etc) or you wanted to explain a less common tradition you are incorporating into the ceremony.  Happy planning!
