couple of opinions please

My wedding is in 3 weeks and i just found out i am pregnant( i think im about 7 weeks). My FI wants to wait to tell everyone at the wedding and so far i am ok with that idea. Can you think of a reason why this wouldn't be a good idea?

My bachelorette party is next weekend and i was planning on going dancing and drinking. If i don't tell the girls why im not drinking should i change my party plans to something more low key without alcohol? Im not sure the girls would buy the "i just dont feel like drinking" excuse.

  • If you're only about 7 weeks along the wedding might not be the best place. I understand that you're excited, but pregnancy can be hit or miss up until 12-14 weeks.

As for your bachelorette party, depending on how many people, you can decide to tell them or not. They may not buy your not drinking excuse whether it's the night of or now since it's only a week out.

  • I would wait to tell everyone.  I hate to say it but what if something happens and you loose the baby?  Maybe wait until the next family get together, or wait and send out announcements to those invited to the wedding.

<div>Congratulations on your wedding and pregnancy! I agree that waiting to tell everyone is a good idea (for the previous reasons mentioned). </div><div>
</div><div>Regarding your bachelorette party, I guess it all depends on how close you are to your friends. If you feel comfortable telling them you are pregnant than go ahead. If you choose to wait, just tell your friends you don't feel like drinking and stick to your word. After a few times of saying "No I don't want a drink", I hope your friends would understand you really don't want to drink. If not, maybe you can say you have a slight headache or are taking prescription meds and you really can't drink. </div>

  • If it were ME... I would change my bachelorette plans to maybe not include much alcohol.
And I definitely wouldn't want to say anything at the wedding. First off, not trying to jinx anything, but there are a shocking number of women who lose their babies in the first trimester. That's why they usually don't tell, and it may have happened to someone and you never would have known.
Also, I would just want the focus to be on the wedding and having a good time.
Whatever you choose... CONGRATS, and ultimately, everything will turn out fine. :)
  • I agree with the PPs. Stick to one major life change at a time.  Celebrate being married at the wedding and then announce the baby later.  You could take a cute pic on your wedding day holding a sign that says you're expecting or something along those lines and send it out with your wedding thank-yous, or just make an announcement at some other time.

As for the bachelorette party, could you switch to a spa day? I don't think anyone would notice if you were drinking mimosas with sparkling grape juice instead of champagne and you'd still have a fun day with your bridesmaids.

This is a GREAT idea. Like it was a secret at the time that you're finally ready to share.
    LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

[QUOTE]A good friend of mine was pregnant at a recent party and she drank club soda with a lime wedge. We all thought she had vodka tonics.  I was completely surprised when they announced a few weeks later.

</div><div>This is a good point. A friend of mine is a bartender and is constantly asked by women in early pregnancy to make them a non-alcoholic drink that looks boozy so no one will be the wiser.</div><div>
</div><div>If you do go out, just make sure you're the only one getting your drinks and that your BMs aren't bringing you cocktails.

Congrats~ You can definitely fake some of the drinks, but if they do shots, it will be hard to fake. Say you are on antibiotics or a new drug you can't drink. Opt for that spa day~

    Yay babies!!
