groom gift

FI and I decided to exchabge gifts on our wedding day. Nothing outrageous, like 100150 limit. Ive been trying to think of something he will love. My mom suggested a watch. I know FI. He doesn't do jewelry. At all. Dad suggested a nice storage like box for the dresser that he can use to store his wallet, keys, cell phone, change ect. And then I'd engrave it or something. Not sure how fi would react. I finally came up with the best idea but have no clue how to pull it off. We are dancing to Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. We've loved that song since college and its so us. I was thinking of trying to get a signed album of Up from Below but I have no idea how to do it. Ive searched online and found nothing. Ive submitted a forum post on their website, but don't think that will be very successful. Ive also tried researching their manager but was only able to email their press person, no response. Do you ladies have any ideas? Or maybe even a connection with the band? Haha. Or should I just give up and get the stupid box?

Re: groom gift

  • Dont do the box. I got my dad the same thing for Xmas last year. I would say to keep trying to get the album if you really want. Or maybe do something else? I am doing a boudoir shoot and giving him the pics in a book. Its something that is just for him and his eyes only. I was also thinking of buying him a gift certificate to get his car detailed and suched. Hes been talking about wanting to get it professionaly done for years. Is this something that your FI would like? What about subscribing him to a Beer of the Month Club? or a Bacon of the Month club?

  • I agree the box isn't something for the groom for the wedding. I like the boudoir shoot idea but everyplace ive looked is over 300 and I really can't spent more than 150. I like your other ideas but FI drives a crappy old car, doesn't drink and hates bacon. Haha ill keep thinking though. I wanted to get him a golf putter hes been wanting, but my dad said to get him something he will always cherish, not something that will become obsolete in a few years, but that limits so many things! Hopefully ill hear back from the band.

  • I dont see anything wrong with getting him the golf club. If he really wants it and it will be useful to him, it seems like a pretty perfect idea for a gift. Also, with the boudoir photos, do you have a friend that could take pics of you? I got lucky & found a photographer who gave me a great deal, but I wouldve been okay with my best friend doing it for me and printing the pics myself.
