GLB - What and where was the best meal you've ever had?

There are actually three that stand out:
The Maisonette (now closed) in Cincinnati.  Incredible French meals and you were surrounded by original Monets, Manets and a couple of other artists I can't remember.

DB Bistro in NYC where I had some of the most delicious duck ever.

O'Connell's in Dublin.  The chef is the brother of the chef who started that whole slow food movement in Ireland and every dish was incredible.  Even though I was full I was still eating.

GLB: If money and time weren't an issue, where would you like to travel to and why?

The Greek Isles.  We were going back and forth between Ireland and Greece for our honeymoon and DH really wasn't comfortable going to Greece.  He wants to wait until the country stabilizes a bit more which will also give him time to brush up on his Greek.

Staar - Where is your favorite place to go for a weekend trip?

I would probably choose Australia. I'd love to go there and I would have enough time to check out everything. After that long, I wouldn't ever need to go back.

(excluding dogs and cats) Penguins.  It probably has something to do with me becoming a Penguins fan because of Mario LeMeux.  I had so many stuffed animal penguins that I just passed on to my niece and nephew, one of them had even lived on my office desk. <strong>Kat - Have you ever gotten a cheeseburger at The Billy Goat Tavern?

Yes I have. And honestly, the place it kind of dirty and I have had better burgers. But dont tell any other Chicagoans. They will throw things at me.

  • Staar - Where is your favorite place to go for a weekend trip?

I like to go down to San Diego. The Wild Animal Park there is amazing. I could just sit there all day and watch the giraffes. Plus they have a great location to check out tide pools.

  • sonya - How did your FI propose?

He took me to my favorite park in my hometown. He took me for a walk, pushed me on the swings for a while, and then sat me down on a bench "to talk". He got down on one knee (which I never saw him doing!) and asked me to be his wife. It was so cute.

Sonya: What is the one song that will ALWAYS put you in a good mood?

I Want You Back - Jackson 5, without a doubt.

    Ils: WB or Disney? Why?

My dad still jokes that if I were a boy that he would have named me Ichabod since our last name rhymes with 'Crane' (Sleepy Hollow reference). In truth, I think I would have been named Cody, but it is always a fun story that he tells.

It's not the food, it's the show.  When we were in Chicago together I insisted on taking DH.  He thought I was nuts going down the steps and under the street but listening to those guys "No.  You don't look at the menu.  Look at me.  I am the menu....." was hilarious.  Belushi didn't have to exaggerate much when he created his SNL skit based on this.

I totally recommend the photo safari tours at the Wild Animal Park! A bit expensive, but worth it.

Sea World was fun when I was a kid. Now it feels like a strange amusement park where they use the animals for profit. Maybe thats why I like the Wild Animal Park so much. It is a non-profit.

  • brittany - For fun I love to spend time with my friends.  It doesn't matter what we do.  We could be at a party or sitting around in someone's living room and it's always a good time.  I feel so lucky to have such an amazing group of friends.  That sort of seems like a lame answer, so I'll add this.  I also love going to baseball games.  I used to have Yankees partial season tickets and I'd go to at least 20 games a year.  I miss doing that.

KatWAG - What's your favorite part of your job?

Sonya-What has been your biggest challenge with wedding planning?

Thankfully, the biggest challenge so far has been deciding how many guests we want to invite. We just can't seem to agree on a number. But our wedding isn't until 2014, so I'm not too deep into planning at all yet.

Sonya - what is your favorite song to rock out to when you are alone in your car driving down the highway but would be mortified if anyone knew?

Well, I really like to sing to Demi Lovato. One time, I was singing her song Get Back at the top of my lungs, only to look down at my lap and see that I had accidentally called a friend of mine, and left him a minute long voicemail of me singing very loudly. It was probably one of the most embarrassing things that has ever happened to me.

Sonya: Did you go to college? What did you major in?

I did, I went to Le Cordon Bleu in Austin. I majored in Pastry and Baking.

Stage: What is your favorite scary movie?

GLB: What are your plans for the weekend?

Sleep.  I know that I want to see Argo.  I'm trying to book a mani/pedi for tomorrow.  We are still in the middle of a kitchen remodel so we either have to find another recipe we can make in an electric wok or find somewhere that we want to eat.

lls - do you have any siblings?

  • Court: If you could have picked your own name, what would you name yourself?

When I was in elementary school, I wanted go by Amy to shorten my middle name which is Amelia. It didn't go over well, I guess I tried to hard to make it happen like Gretchen Weiners.

Kat-as a Chicagoan, do you have any crazy Hangge Uppe stories? We went to Chicago for my sister's bach party and she was DYING to go there after hearing about it.
  • KAT: What is your favorite thing about Chicago?

I am walking advertisement for Chicago. I love Chicago. I have lived here my whole life and there is still so much to explore. Chicago is 2 completely different cities in the winter and the summer. In the winter its so peaceful, no one is around, the neighborhoods are empty. And it so beautiful with all the city lights, snow and the frozen lake. In the summer, everyone comes out of hiding and there are so many street fests, dog parks, beachs etc. Plus there are 51 neighborhoods all with a completely different feel and vibe. I am obsessed with Chicago... can you tell?

KatWAG - What's your favorite part of your job?

A big part of my job is entertaining, and I love that. And since there is always something new happening in politics, I am constantly on my toes.

Kat: If you had an extra room in your house/apartment, what would you use it for?
Maybe a room for Fred (my fur baby) to play in. Then he could keep his chewing contained in one room as oopsed to the entire house.

I watched the first season on Netflix, but didn't finish watching the other seasons. They are making a movie?! I had no idea! I'd probably go watch it.

Trivial Pursuit! I love all the different versions, but my parents would play the 'Baby Boomers' edition when I was little and I loved hearing them play it with their friends.

lls:  if you could give one piece of advice to future brides based on your own wedding experience, what would it be?

  • GLB:  What is one piece of advice about marriage you would give to bride-to-bes?

If you can't do it already, learn good communication skills because you have to be able to discuss anything and everything with your spouse.  Understand that you never leave your spouse out there on his/her own if there is a disagreement with your family, it is your job to protect the person you love.  Appreciate each and every day that you have together, even if you are arguing because life will always end too soon (I thought I lost DH on 9/11).

General wedding advice: it's just a party so don't make it anything more than that.  We didn't try for anything "perfect".  If you were the first vendor to get back to us and we liked you, you got our business.  It made planing incredibly easy doing it this way.
