NWR: Nervous!!

So... tomorrow (actually this morning since it's after midnight....) I have an interview!  I haven't had one in forever, and I don't want to sound dumb!  And if by some amazing chance I get offered the job... I don't know what I would do!!  My wedding is in 3 weeks and with my current job I have already planned to take the full week before and the full week after off... and I don't know how soon I'd have to start the new job and if wedding time off would be affected or if they'd even be okay with me doing that.... but that's been planned for a long time, and hopefully I wouldn't need to start in the next 3 weeks...!  Sorry for the rant, I'm just nervous!! Anyone awake? Any advice?  TIA!!! :)

Do you need the full two weeks off?  Decide how much time you actually need to take off first.

Hopefully they will ask "When can you start?"  and I would suggest you say the day after your honeymoon ends.

If they don't ask that question, then towards the end of the interview, you can bring up that you are getting married in three weeks and will need "Date X - to Date X off" and you hope that you can work arround that.

I don't think that this will affect their decision.  Good luck!

EDIT - I just started my job a month ago.  When I told them I needed a week after and two days before the wedding off, they wanted to know if I needed more time.  The guy new his wife took two full weeks off and wanted to make sure I wasn't too stressed!

  • Well... I dont NEED the two weeks off, but I'd like it.  A wedding is a big and important day and I want to really enjoy it, and enjoy the time leading up to it.  I work nights (7pm-7am) so I figure it'd be nice to have the time beforehand to catch up a little on sleep and get myself in a day schedule routine, and be a good host for my out of state bridesmaids that will be arriving at some point during that week.  I've worked hard for my vacation time and I feel I deserve to use it and be extra nice to myself before the wedding!  :)  I don't think I've taken any time off in over a year.

The interview went well this morning, but I found out they're having a second round of interviews, so who knows if I'll even be asked back.  (I hope so though!)  And if I do, I'll mention at that interview that my wedding is super soon and if the time off is ok... etc.  I seriously doubt they would decide against me for that reason alone, so if I don't get it, I wasn't meant to get it anyway.  I also feel like there is no way I'd start that soon... I need to give at least 2 weeks notice at my current job, and I would like to definitely give more time if possible!  So, now I've just gotta wait and see what happens!
