Missing something...?

Hi Ladies,
Any advice for little things/details that may be missed or forgotten? Everyone keeps telling me that its going to be so busy an choatic on the day etc etc., but all I can figure is that I need to wake up an look good!
Then last night I had a horrible dream that everything and I mean everything went wrong, it was like the hangover happened to my bridal party but instead of rallying at the end everyone screwed. So I'm starting to think that maybe I am missing something.... I have been really organized an laid back up until this point but starting to stress a little.
Any words of wisdom to comfort will be appreciated!

Re: Missing something...?

  • As of now, 3 months out, I've booked all of my major vendors, venue(catering), cake, flowers, DJ, Photo, Transportation, Hotel, HM

I have my first dress fitting in two weeks... ordered the BM Dresses
Assembled the wedding invites, just need to address them
    Drafted the wedding ceremony/vows etc
Started a timeline for the reception events/stuff
FI an I are going to start dance classes & private lessons this wknd

I haven't confirmed vendor stuff yet, but figure shouldn't do that too far out, right? Maybe I'm just obbsessing an in turn stressing myself...

  • I would have made a list of things to not forget - like personal things for me. I spent the night at a condo with my BMs the night before and one of them ran to the store for me in the morning. I had no deodorant, hair brush, toothbrush, etc. etc. I was such a mess leaving my house that I apparently had no common sense.

Other than that, our morning of the wedding was pretty much spent getting ready. Getting our hair done, drinking coffee & mimosas, eating breakfast & watching a football game on t.v. I dropped everything off at the venue the night before and all that was left to do was set the tables, which my MIL and mom did for us. I would try to have nothing or very little on your to-do list the day of.
  • Thanks! Thatsw reassuring, guess I am just overthinking things.

Wedding party gifts I haven't given much thought to yet.... Obviously for the bridal party and groomsmen, but do you do wedding gifts for parents too? Fi an I are paying for the vast majority, but his mum gave us a little to help so I feel like if we give her a gift then we should my parents too?

Hair & makeup I am not sure about yet... I really wanted have a friend/family member do it because of the cost but its a lot to ask of someone I feel an no one reliable really has much experience other than the daily routines. I don't think I would, but I'd like to avoid being upset or wanting to blame a friend because my hair wasn't what I wanted so may bite the bullet an pay.
  • I don't know if it is too early or not but a guest book and pen? that type of stuff?

  • Ooh for a guest book I was thinking of using one of our engagement pics printed on a canvas with a border for people to sign. Guess I could do that to just have it done early!

Definately need to make a packing list of sorts I think!

  • I got our moms embroidered handkerchiefs off of Etsy. They were pretty inexpensive and made the moms cry. It wasn't much, but just something to tell them we appreciate what they do for us. We got one for my FIL too, but it just had a monogram, no sappy poem.
  • There is a great checklist here somewhere, and part of my stumbling on to this site was looking for a checklist as NOT to forget anything! It is very inclusive, and has a number of items that won't actually apply in my case - I still felt so much better knowing it wasn't only up to my mind alone!

~~Mendi~~ ...Everyone has their price; mine's chocolate Photobucket
  • Thanks ladies! I do use the checklist on this site, I woke up so paranoid from my dream, in which we even forgot about the rehearsal which I did schedule. And I've been in a lull and it feels like there should be more to do

Minor panick attack, but calming now!
  • I compeltely forgot to bring the table numbers.  About 15 minutes before the wedding, I realized, and asked my caterer if she could fashion something quickly.  They found someone with good handwriting, and she wrote "one", "two", etc on some tented cardstock.  It looked awesome.

  • The few weeks before the wedding I filled a basket with items that needed to be brought to the venue with me the day of.  It was so helpful because I could add things to it when I thought of them and there wasn't any rushing around at the last minute.  It included table numbers, escort cards, wedding shoes, bra and underwear for under my gown, garter, outfit for leaving the wedding in (including shoes), marriage license, envelopes with money for tips, a copy of my vows, guest book and pen, wedding rings, etc.

My biggest advice is making lists of the little things that are left to do, because those are the easiest to forget imo.  Things like breaking in shoes, making a nail appointment, applying/picking up marriage license, getting rings cleaned, wrapping gifts and writing cards for bridal party, etc. can be really easy to forget when there is so much else going on.  Also, I tried to get all the little things done as early as possible.

  • Ahh nail appointments! An the basket is a great idea, that way I can add as I think of things and check them off early! Thanks!!
