HELP!!-shower wording

I am planning on having a guys and girls shower. We're calling it a 'gadget and gift card' shower.
I have been to a 'tools and drool' shower where the guy received tools and the girl lingerie, and another shower where everyone left money on a tree to help the couple pay for their honeymoon...so I know my idea isn't that far out there.
Instead of just getting lingerie I wanted my fiancee and I to get the opportunity to get other clothing essentials to wear for the honeymoon...undies, bra, maybe some cute tops, bathing suit etc...that's where the 'gift card' idea came in.
How do I word the invite so that people understand not to get gift cards at Bed, Bath and Beyond, where we are registered also...mall gift card?

Thanks!!

    No no no no NO.
You don't throw your own shower and you most certainly do not blatantly ask for gifts yourself.

  • I'm not throwing my own shower...my bridesmaids are...I'm just trying to help them out with wording because they're not sure how to word it either!
  • It's like you came up with every possible rude shower idea and put it in one post.  Pretty much the only thing you said that is ok is a co-ed shower.

This idea makes me feel uncomfortable and I hate it.

Not sure what else to say.

What kind of "gadgets" do you mean?

I don't really think you have to call it anything but a wedding shower or bridal shower. In the invitation, your BMs can write something like, "Please bring Lilbitty a gadget to stock her kitchen!" (But maybe worded cuter or something, I'm not good at that stuff.)

  • I'm normally someone that feels people can do whatever they want for their wedding, and even I am uncomfortable with this idea. If I was going to someone's wedding shower, I would be getting something that would be of help to you for the wedding or for your new wedded life together.  I would not be buying clothes for the bride and groom, that seems weird to me.
