Trash the dress?

while look for photographers I have been seeing alot of this "Trash the dress" sessions and I wanted to ask would you do this, it looks kinda fun and I am sure I will never wear the dress again what do yall think?

Re: Trash the dress?

  • The frugal part of me just finds this ridic. I probably won't wear my wedding dress again either, and I can't imagine why someone would trash it instead of sell it, if you're never going to wear it again anyway.

  • true, just me personally I really dont want anyone else ever wearing my dress except maybe my daughter and lets face facts that hardly happens anymore I guess I am just selfish i dunno
  • I don't think I am. It's just not my style and I don't know if I could deal with getting something so expensive and pretty dirty!

  • Honestly after e-pics, wedding pics, b-pics, hm pro-pics and trash the dress pics it starts to get a little narcissistic don't you think? I mean what is one person going to do with that many pictures of themselves?
  • None of the options really apply to me.  I'm not doing it because I don't really see the point, not because I want to save the dress.

  • None of the options apply to me.  I didn't do them because after all of the other pictures the last thing we needed was a bunch more pictures of me.  Like PP I find them very narcissistic.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Yep! I can't wait to trash it.

    I can't wait!
  • Haha panda!

I like ROCK the dress better than trash the dress, but I do agree, it is a little narcissistic.  If I did anything, I would get a dress off Craigslist or Ebay or Goodwill and do a Rock the dress, those look really fun.  I've already sold my own dress, but I wouldn't trash it anyway, I liked it too much.
  • I'm not doing a trash the dress session. The photos look really cool and artsy, but like other pps said, what would I do with more pics of just me?

I also couldn't bring myself to destroy a beautiful/expensive dress.  I haven't decided yet whether I will save my dress as a keepsake, try to sell it, or donate it.

  • i couldn't do that to my dress at all. I decided that i would have it altered into just a ball gown since we go to a lot of balls. With the amount i am paying for my dress, I want all the wear out of it I can get.

  • BTW, great poll, camo!
  • I'm getting mine preserved. I thought about doing a RTD prior to getting it preserved, but I really don't think I'd be able "loosen up" enough to actually enjoy the shoot.

FWIW, I pretty much considered it because I love how the pics usually look, but also because we didn't do e-pics, I didn't do b-pics, and we kept the actually wedding photos extremely simple, I didn't even get "getting dressed" photos done (We had the basic formals, 2 or 3 "special" shots, and then candids for the rest of the night). I thought a RTD would be something neat and special to do ... but now that everything's over, I'm really just not seeing the need for the photos.
