Wedding color help

I'm having trouble coming up with a good color scheme here.  My main "color" is going to be Campbell tartan (an example is http://www.scotweb.co.uk/images/tartans/nevis_campbell_anc.jpg )  I could simply use the colors found in the tartan, i.e. blue, green, and black, and have silver accents.  However, I cannot stand green, I don't know why.

I am going to have the tartan laced up the back of my dress (which is ivory...I got it off Ebay for $50, so I'm definitely not going to complain that it's ivory instead of white, lol) , and perhaps around the neckline and hem as well.  The groom and groomsmen will be wearing kilts (in their own clan tartan) or black slacks with ivory shirts.

So, I really need colors for the bridemaids dresses, the flowers, and the decorations.  Any ideas?

  • Black dresses are easy and alays look nice.

  • Tartan is a complicated pattern, especially if the guys will be wearing non-matching ones.  I vote for the bridesmaids in black and the decor to be in black and white (or ivory, whichever), if only to keep things from becoming visually cluttered.

  • 1.  Black dresses would never be a choice in my area for a wedding.
    2.  Your wedding is in MAY.  Black is not a spring/summer color.  Maybe you could get away with this if your wedding was in the winter.
    3.  Your wedding is over three years away.  I think you have time to test out a lot of color combos.
    4.  Try light blue and dark blue.
