Reception Questions

Hi Ladies! So FI and I are meeting with the wedding consultant at the Radisson in Nashua for the first time today to sign our contract and put our deposit down. (Yay!) She's been great to talk with both on the phone and emails so far. I was just wondering what questions you think I should ask her other than money ones since we've already gone over the contract? What were things you wished you had asked but forgot to when you met for the first time? I've got several so far, but I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of them. TIA!

Ask about if she expects the prices on the menu to rise and if you can lock in. Ask her opinion on the vendors you're thinking about. They work with them and can let you know what people are like and their work.

Ask what time your vendors can enter the function room and then let everyone know. Ask if someone from the hotel will stick with you during the WHOLE event, in case you have questions. Ask when they will be cutting and serving the cake - sometimes facilities try to rush you so that their workers can punch out early. Ask if there's room in their refrigerators for the cake topper or the undecorated kitchen cake. Don't laugh but sometimes they just don't have room and the icing can melt by the end of the evening. Ask if they have a backup generator in case the power goes off during a severe thunder storm. Ask if open flames (tiered candle holders around the cake) is allowed.

Hey thanks girls! We met with our planner and she's really great. Basically the reception will run however we want it to, and they'll move things around to accomidate it. So whenever we want to do the cake, or the first dance they'll make sure everything is set. Oh and the prices are set as of today when we signed the contract.I know that we'll have a day of hostess to take care of any issues that come up, and that there are two bakeries that they use as part of the package, so I would guess they would have enough room for the cake, but I never though about the power going out. Since it's in July, that's a really big possibility! I'll make sure to check that out! And about what time the vendors can come in and set up. Thanks so much for your help!
