On another board yesterday a vendor posted advertising wedding stationary.  Since the board doesn't have an active mod I replied with " Advertising is against TK's TOS. You've been reported." The post was then removed.  I just got a PM from that vendor saying "I wasn't advertising. I was promoting my business." Huh? Did I miss something. Aren't they the same thing?

    I would just respond with its against TOS to promote your business. The only difference I could see is that the vendor thinks of advertising as creating an ad and then putting it somewhere. Something graphic KWIM? Whereas promoting their business is just telling people about it. Yeah, both are against the rules, but the connotation could he slightly different. Eta: but I agree, they're the same thing.

    omg. I wouldn't want to work with a vendor that doesn't know that "promoting my business" is the same as "advertising my business".
